Out in the streets again for the Environment

We are just a short time away from COP26 in Glasgow, where world leaders will meet to agree on solutions to the climate crisis, but environmental associations are noting an inconsistency between the planning of institutions and the real needs of communities. In Bologna, the first of the many problems that instead of being solved will be made more critical is the very poor air quality, with an absurd project to widen the ring road+highway axis that crosses Bologna, which is currently a neuralgic bottleneck of mobility between the south and north of the country, traversed by streams of lorries and heavy vehicles every day. Unfortunately, we find ourselves on one of the ‘hottest’ road junctions linking the Mediterranean and northern Europe, and to solve the problem, instead of finding ecological solutions, the lanes, which are already close to the city centre, will be increased.
In this photo taken by Francesco Tommasini, I participate in the demonstration of the Bolognese Network of Environmental Struggles with some environmentalist friends. From the left Valentina Marassi , Antonella Lodi, and on my left Marina Conti.
On this occasion I met Beatrice Trentin and saw Gaia Masullo again, two student leaders of the Fridays For Future activists who helped organise the procession, who agreed to come and meet my Aldini students and, if we can get started, to participate in one of the English-language radio broadcasts on the environment that we are planning

Newly elected deputy mayor Emily Clancy was also in the procession.
