In March 2024, I took part in the CU4 Kick-off meeting of the PhD course in Sustainable Development and Climate Change.
We students of Curriculum 4 of the PhD course (Theories, Institutions and Cultures of the Ecological Transition) were invited to work in groups and present our perspectives on the topic “Climate imperative and democracy’s metamorphosis: a challenge for the future”. My colleagues Esther Flumeri, Federico Comollo, Martina Lillo and I presented the research “Radical Democracy: an Antidote to the Climate Leviathan”.
In our transdisciplinary group I focused on the field of education and discussed the section “Radical Democracy as a Tool for Developing Ecological Awareness in Education and English as a Second Language (ESL)”, while Esther brought her political perspective on the impact of egalitarian qualities within radical democracy, Federico explained how radical democracy can act as a tool for a non-human turn, and Martina concluded our presentation with a focus on intergenerational justice as a tool for implementing radical democracy. Our scientific advisors were Prof Elisa Bolchi and PhD students Chiara Lanza, Irene Bordignon, Pauldin Lawrence, Giulia Leonetti and Giuliana Rotola.

These are all our CU4 colleagues and professors. Professor Mario Martina coordinates the PhD programme and Professor Alberto Pirni coordinates our CU4. Professors Dario Padovan and Tiziana Andina organised the event and hosted it at the University of Turin.
